NOTDEC UK is a charity which works with NOTDEC in Uganda to provide a better life for orphan children.

house motherNOTDEC (the Nzirambi Orphans Talent Development Centre) is situated in Western Uganda and cares for motherless or abandoned children.
It was started 30 years ago by Dorothy Nzirambi who started to look after a baby girl who had lost her mother in childbirth.  Gradually more and more babies came her way, most of them having lost their mothers at birth, all of them unwanted by their families.
For many years it was a real struggle for her to provide for them adequately as she did not have a regular form of income – but she knew that this was God’s call on her life and saw God providing for her needs.
However when a sponsorship scheme started about 15 years ago this enabled her to care for more children and pay for staff to help her.
There are now 156 NOTDEC children ranging from tiny babies to young people at University.
Over 80 are now based back with their families. They are still sponsored to cover the cost of school fees, school uniform, school equipment and lunch at school. These children range in age from three year olds to upper teenagers.
Two social workers employed by NOTDEC visit the children who are back with their families to make sure that they are being well cared for. They also visit the relations of those children who are still at NOTDEC to see if any further child can be integrated back into the community.
Those still on the main NOTDEC site live in purpose built accommodation.
The sponsors live all over the UK (plus three in Germany) with a cluster living in Leamington Spa.

Every penny donated has been sent to NOTDEC Uganda either for the construction work or for the ongoing care of the children.
